Besides turkey and pumpkin pie, The Canadian Thanksgiving weekend also saw the official close of the 2018 cricket season in Canada’s Capital.  After a T20 regular season that saw 11 teams put up thousands of runs, and a handful of centuries, it came down to one weekend to determine a champion. Congratulations Kamal Setia and Rahul Raikwar, for passing their LEVEL 3 UMPIRING EXAM WITH FLYING COLOURS. It is quite an achievement we all in OVCC can be very proud off. This exam is hard and is in THREE parts, written, pass mark 70%, practical and ora,l passing mark combined for this is 80%. Now they are officially certified by the WEST INDIAN BOARD who are responsible for the Americas. Well done Kamal and Rahul, now you join only a hand full of OVCC umpires in this elite group. Cricket Ottawa – The Early Years (1840-1960) In 1840, some thirteen years after the first recorded mention of cricket in Canada , the Carleton Cricket Club was established in Ottawa , then named Bytown.
