2019-08-17: Dear Captains and Players!

I want to thank every one of you for being a part of this tournament. Our hope and wish is that you enjoy every ball bowled to the fullest.

Gautama, the BUDDHA! once said:  “There is no path to happinessHappiness is the path.”

What we all are chasing is happiness in life. If small things like a game loss, umpiring decision or a weather condition takes away our happiness, we are self-defeating our purpose! I wish you all happiness and pride as you represent your teams, enjoy the top quality playing conditions and become a part of something amazing in Nashville cricket!

Welcome to the new Tennessee Twenty League.  The organizing team has done a tremendous self-less effort leaving their young families aside, mowing the grounds, cleaning trash, working with contractors, running around stores, and taking time off from work and spending personal money to bring this tournament to life.  Starting from paddy fields filled with wild life, we have transformed them to a playing ground of international quality with huge areas for competitive cricket. We are still in the quest to improve it further and we all need your support and co-operation as we try and build Nashville the center spot for cricketing activity in the time to come.

Our intention is that you all enjoy every bit of this tournament and scale to the new format. After hearing multiple sides of the 12 over format, we have decided to bring this format which helps all teams have a healthy competition between themselves and with the opponents. We hope this format gives enough chances for all batsman and bowlers to explore their abilities and experiment at will. Your happiness and satisfaction is our primary goal, Win or Lose, we would love to see you go home happily as our quest is only for your happiness.

As you come to the ground, you will see the effort that went into it. It was built with a sole purpose of bringing more cricket and enhancing the quality of cricket in Nashville, and keeping everyone jubilant with more opportunities. This is your home as well, and we all want you to treat it with the same respect you have for your home. lets keep it clean and always leave it in a better condition than we have seen it.

None of our organizing committee likes rules, or restrict people from exploring their best.  In order to meet certain social requirements, we will have to ensure some rules are in place so everyone can be clear on the minimum expectations.  If this comes from you naturally, we all can come together to become a big family, and build this into a formidable facility. I request all of you to see this vision and the facilities as your home, helping maintain it in a better way.

There are four things we wanted to ensure everyone followed and understood before we put a step in the new ground.

Parking, Trash, Umpiring and Wild Life

Parking:

There will be help on Day 1 to ensure all of you are guided to your parking locations. All parking will have to be near the Barn area and outside Ground 3. We will help you get there. Please remember your ground number as you drive for the game.

IT IS A MANDATORY RULE THAT NO ONE DRIVES ON CRICKET FIELDS. THE GROUNDS ARE BLACK CLAY. CARS AND TRUCKS LEAVE PERMANENT MARKS AND IT MAKES THE OUTFIELD RUGGED AND UNPLAYABLE.  WE HAVE SPENT CLOSE TO $4000 TO GET THE GROUNDS LEVELED AND SHAPED TO SUIT OUR GAME.

I REQUEST YOU ALL TO BE MINDFUL OF THIS AND ENSURE YOU ARE IN A SAFE PLAYING AREA WHERE YOUR STEP IS TRULY FLAT WHEN YOU RUN.

If you see anyone driving, please take the luxury to correct them and be authoritative to protect your playing area. It is important that you and your team has a safe ground to play on.

Trash:

ALL TEAMS ARE EXPECTED TO BRING THEIR TRASH BAGS AS WE ARRANGE FOR TRASH CANS IN THE COMING WEEKS. There is a trash unit next to the ground and we can use that to dispose trash collected after the game. We will provide directions to that facility.

FOR NOW, PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN TRASHBAGS AND CARRY ALL THE TRASH.

WHILE WE HATE ANY RULE OR PUNISHMENT,  WE HAVE TO BE CLEAR THAT ANY TRASH LEFT BEHIND WILL HAVE A FINANCIAL PENALTY ASSOCIATED WITH IT. Captains are requested to send pictures of their areas and the ground after their game to ensure no penalties are assigned.

ALCOHOL USAGE:  THERE IS NO ALCOHOL ALLOWED IN THE GROUNDS! THIS IS A STRICT RULE TO BE FOLLOWED BY EVERYONE. VIOLATION OF THIS RULE WILL RESULT IN PLAYER BAN AND A FINE FOR THE PARTICIPATING CAPTAIN

Umpiring:

ALL UMPIRING DECISIONS ARE FINAL. We are self umpiring, and ensuring the protection of everyone taking a decision is extremely important. Please be respectful or your team mates and the opponents as they are also in the quest to enjoy the game, win at every opportunity and love this game we all hold so closely.

Playoffs umpiring will be  from teams that have not made it to playoffs.

Wild Life:

As you play in the grounds, there is a good chance you will encounter some wild life.  This planet is as much theirs as it is ours. If you see any wild animal( including snakes) aggressive, please get out of their way and let them go. They are aggressive because they are scared.
We have already snatched their home from them, we can be compassionate to them as they find a new place to live, and be away from our activity.

I beg all of you not to hurt any animals or wild life in the area, and let them pass by steering clear of their way!  They have a family to feed and protect just like us.

Once again to quote the Buddha!
- “Happiness is not having a lot. Happiness is giving a lot.”

Finally to re-iterate, we have put in a lot of effort to ensure we all have good facilities, and we all are excited that we will be playing our first game on Sunday. Please reach out to your immaculate captains as they are being kept abreast of all the information and news.
Lets enjoy these wonderful facilities and bring out our best.

On a final, but important note, we want to thank our big- hearted land lord who has been a great help and always a positive voice in anything we wanted to do.  His big heart, combined with his drive ensured we as a unit always got what we wanted to make this happen. It is with great effort he has acquired the area and have got us to a place where we can enjoy every bit of these facilities.  If you see him (John Paul) around, please give him a thank you and a warm hug(so he gets a feel for the cricketing sweat!)

Thanks,

TTL Org Committee.
