Champions Trophy 2017

CT2017 Format:
There are 17 teams participating in the tournament, which have been put into 4 groups, with one group containing 5 teams. The groups are as follows:

Group A: Sultans / Weekenders / SD Kings / Beamers 
Group B: Wolverines / Bolts / Vintage / Bouncers
Group C: Falcons / Spartans / Strikers / Phoenix
Group D: Tigers / Masters / Mavericks / Jaguars / Lions

Each innings consists of 20 overs. Teams have 100 minutes to bowl 20 overs including a 5 minute break at the end of 10 overs. There is a 10 minute in-between innings. Umpires will deduct overs in case teams are unable to bowl their overs in the allotted time (For how to deduct:

Each win is worth 10 points. In the event of a tie or abandoned match due to rain, 5 points will be awarded to each team. There will be 3 league games (4 for Masters). The top two teams from each group after the league phase, as decided by points and NRR, will qualify for the quarter finals. In the case of group D, the number of losses will be considered prior to NRR to determine the rankings.

The quarter/semi finals will be structured as follows:

Quarter finals: (A1) vs. (B2), (A2) vs. (B1), (C1) vs. (D2), (C2) vs. (D1)
Semi finals: (A1 or B2) vs. (C1 or D2), (A2 or B1) vs. (C2 or D1)

Roster Information:
Since Champions Trophy is a small tournament, we will follow roster requirements from last Champions Trophy, which are different than regular season requirements. Please pay attention to following rules for CT2017:

  • Roster will be frozen after first weekend games. Captains/Team Administrators must ensure that they have their roster finalized by then.

  • No player transfers will be allowed between teams during the tournament. Teams will be penalized match points if they play with a player that has already played with another team in CT2017. 

  • Players who have not played in CT2017, can be added during the group phase after getting approval from EC. Teams must send an email to the EC and EC will add the player. 

  • We will waive the requirement of players to play at least one game in league phase to be eligible for playing in knockout games. However, no players can be added to a team during the knockout phase.

At the end of the tournament, the following awards will be presented:

  • Champions Trophy + $150 gift card

  • Runners-up Trophy + $100 gift card

  • Best Batsman Trophy

  • Best Bowler Trophy

  • Best Fielder Trophy

  • Best Wicketkeeper Trophy

  • Man of the Tournament Trophy (based on number of points accumulated)


  • Quarter finals MoM will get $10 gift card

  • Semi finals MoM will get $20 gift card

  • Finals MoM will get $30 gift card
