About: Who are we?
  • Maryland Cricket League is a community based organization made up of cricket enthusiasts with primary focus on providing recreational cricket facility to local cricket community; and invite non-cricket community into experimenting cricket.

Our History:
  • Our community is our strength. Back in 2012, bunch of volunteers started fund raising Charity Cricket efforts for the benefit of underprivileged children in India. We were blessed to have Murray Hill Middle School ground with local help and managed to get 7 – 8 teams. Later in 2012 - 13 we tirelessly worked with Montgomery County, Maryland securing a cricket pitch for us at Spencerville Recreation Center in Silver Spring. Today, thanks to local community, cricket and otherwise we have grown into 20+ dedicated teams with around 500 – 600 active members. Today as we grow with help from county we have Roberto Clemente Middle School and Damascus grounds as well utilizing for cricket alongside with soccer ball community. Besides supporting underprivileged children in India we also initiated Youth Cricket and Math Tutoring program.
Youth Cricket:
  • We initiated Youth Cricket efforts in 2014 and today we have U15 leather ball team Maryland Thunder with 15 – 20 youth members. The main objective of this program is to pass on cricket to second generation children; including non-cricket playing communities. Since 2015 we have been getting 5 – 7 teams participate in our U15 cricket tournaments.

Math Tutoring Program:
  • Over the past decade there’s great concern amongst local board of education that our children are struggling with Math. Being community organization we have been concerned and has been thinking of helping county with Math. So as another feature in the camp of MCL, in 2017 we initiated Math Tutoring program in an effort to uplift math standards. It’s just a start and we have average 10 kids learning Mathematics utilizing online video conference from the comfort of their home.
