2015 HCL T20 Finals - SPC vs ISU Another beautiful day awaited the SPC team in Ames, IA (after a shorter 3 hour drive compared to Cedar Rapids for the semi final the prior day). SPC won the toss and elected to bat first and lost opener Rajneesh Bhatti in the second over. Praveen Injapuram (29 off 24 balls, 3 fours, 1 sixer) was joined by Purathatil Krishnan (58 off 51 balls, 5 fours, 1 sixer) and they added 52 runs very quickly for the 2nd wicket. Praveen was bowled by a brilliant yorker from Aditya Raj. Yasir Sepah (27 off 27 balls, 1 sixer) joined Krish at the crease and the two had to adapt to some brilliant bowling by Sannel Patel (4-1-17-2) and Aditya Raj (4-0-16-1). The two had 11 dot balls in succession, with Sannel bowling a maiden over to Krish. Running singles and doubles the two batsmen put on a 63 run partnership for the 3rd wicket. In the end, Sandeep Rana (18 off 10 balls, 1 four, 1 sixer), helped SPC post a total of 159 runs. Adnan Fazal (3-0-30-1), Deepak Navi (3-0-39-1) and Ayyapadhasan Vythilingam (3-0-29-1) were the other wicket takers for ISU. Sandeep Rana (4-0-17-1) then continued his all round performance bowling his typical line and length swinging and seaming the ball. He had Aditya Raj snick one towards gully where Anileswar Yarramsetty took a brilliant catch diving low to his right and completing a classic. This inspired the SPC team to up the ante and continue the tightening of runs. Deepak Navi (29 of 20 balls, 4 fours) was joined by Adnan Fazal (32 off 31 balls, 3 fours, 1 sixer) and the two added 26 runs for the 2nd wicket. Yasir Sepah (3-0-18-1) foxed Deepak with a slower delivery and had him sky a catch to the covers, where Fayez Jawed bravely called it early and completed the catch with nonchalance. Anil (4-0-25-3) then turned the tide again in SPC's favor by sending Sannel Patel (19 off 19 balls, 1 four) back. Adnan and Sannel had add 40 runs for the 3rd wicket. Anil bowled good pace and followed up with 2 more quick wickets to give SPC the upper hand. Needing 10 an over now, Adnan opened up with some big hits in one over. Atik Sheikh (4-0-31-3) set and off side field and had Adnan caught on the off side with Fayez (again) completing the catch on the cover boundary. Once Adnan was done, Bishwo Poudel (26 off 18 balls, 1 four, 1 sixer) was the lone batsmen who offered some resistance. Purathatil Krishnan (1-0-5-1) was the other wicket taker for SPC. SPC's bowling depth, which helped defend 159, was evident in this game. Result: SPC won by 31 runs Scores: SPC 159 for 6 in 20 overs; ISU 128 for 10 in 18.3 overs Man of the Match: Anileshwar Yerramshetty for his brilliant catch and awesome bowling which fetched him 3 wickets. |
