Match: NCC vs. KCC Toss: KCC MoM: Uday Bhaskar On a rain affected morning, KCC won the toss and to NCC's surprise elected to bat first. A decision KCC players thought was dangerous after Sukhen was cleaned up by JJ on the 3rd ball of the match. Srini and Money tried to stabilize the innings by rotating the strike. At the end of the 9th over, Srini was caught behind off Jayachandra with KCC reduced to 43-2. On the other end, Money continued his form by showcasing some brilliant strokeplay on NCC's opening bowlers. At the team score of 49, KCC lost Abhiram and Adarsh was sent up the batting order. Adarsh and Money sticthed a 51 run partnership before Money for stumped for a personal score of 48. Adarsh, Uday, Abhishek, Pradeep, Rajat, Shashank and Kiran took KCC to a score of 159 in 30 overs. KCC would have been disappointed as they could have scored another 30 runs if not for the wet ground conditions. Before the start of the 2nd innings, the skies cleared and the weather became favorable for batting. NCC started with Praveen and Minal. Some scintillating off-drives from both the openers set the chase for NCC. At the end of 6 overs, NCC were racing towards the target with 33/0. Sukhen was introduced into the attack and stamped his authority by trapping Praveen off the very first ball. Ali and Aniket tried to accelerate the scoring but Abhiram had different plans for both of them. With an inswinging delivery he cleaned up Ali's off stump. NCC were still well placed at 62/2 at the end of the 12th over. In the 16th over, at the team score of 72, Abhiram caught Aniket at short mid-wicket - a catch that will stay with KCC for a long time. At the end of the 21st over, NCC had lost Minal for a well made 31 after Sukhen penetrated his defense to clean the stumps. NCC were 104/4 with 56 needed from the last 9 overs. Some tight line and length from Pradeep (6-0-20-2) and Adarsh (2-0-8-0) brought the match almost to a run a ball. With JJ and Sufiyan still on the crease, KCC needed to step a gear in their bowling. And they did it with all the strength from Uday. A completely unplayable over swinged the match in KCC's favor as Uday picked up 3 wickets and almost wrapped up the case for NCC. Uday ended his spell with figures of 6-0-21-3 as he got JJ, Sufiyan and Jayachandra. With 21 needed off the last over, Manish hit Pradeep for a 6 over the deep midwicket. With 14 off the last 5 balls, Manish was caught by Adarsh at covers and that was pretty much the end of the game. KCC dismissed NCC for 147 and won the game by 13 runs. Special mention to KCC fielders - Shashank, Kiran, Abhishek, Srikanth for saving some crucial runs in the field that helped making NCC work for the runs. For his bowling effort, Uday was adjudged as the Man of the Match.
