Tropical win Desmond Lewis Cup!

Tropical Sports club reclaimed their status as the kings of the Georgia Supreme Cricket League when they registed a comfortable 43- run victory over defending 40 Overs Champions Vibes Sports Club at Mark Trail on Sunday. The 40 Overs cup was renamed the Desmond Lewis Cup startng  2018 in honor of former Jamaica ,West Indies and Tropical player so it was fitting that Tropical took first hold of this cup.
Vibes won the toss and and asked Tropical to take first strike. Openers Ahsan Plummer and Javian McFarlane played solidly to lay the foundation with a 75-run opening stand. Plummer was first to go LBW to Evroy Dyer for a well played 46. David Hoilette batting at number 4 joined forces with McFarlane and added 81 for the 3rd wicket to pilot Tropical to 235-8 in their allot 40 overs. Hoilette batted well with an entertaining knock of 63 with 5 fours and 4 sixes. McFarlane stuck around and scored 62. Pick of the bowlers for Vibes were Captain Evroy Dyer 3-31: Nick McFarlane 3-34.
Vibes sports Club replied methodically with openers Ricardo Bartley and Kewin Lyle laboring to 89 in the 17th over before Bartley went for 50. With the introduction of wiley veteran John Slocombe , Vibes fail to adequately navigate his off spinners and soon find themselves loosing wickets steadily and falling behind on the run rate. Vernon Boswell tried to increase the tempo but was too little, too late and Vibes were bowled out for 192. Boswell with a fighting 43. Slocombe finished with 3-30 and was able supported by Ryan Wong, Adsyl Hutson and Basil Willims with 2 wickets each.
Vibes Sports Club won the 30 Overs and the T-20 competition and were heavy favorites to win the triple crown but Tropical was better on the day.
