Outsiders’ First win and in Style: Outsiders have finally won a match this season after close encounters in previous matches. Winning the toss Outsiders decided to bat first though they lost Sanju for the first ball, Sree E and Shekhar had a good partnership, scoring 47 and 66 runs. With favorable contributions by Suresh, Mohan Outsiders was able to post 170 runs on board. Mayank secured number 1 position as best bowler throughout this tournament by taking 2 wickets. In reply Eagles got a good start by Denny and Mir but couldn’t carry as Denny was out in 4th over. It was equal contributions by Sridhar, Dinesh, Binil and Ravi who batted really well but Outsiders were well prepared this time to take wickets at right intervals and restricting them to 131 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs. Eagles outing in this tournament is over and they would definitely take some good and bad from it. Outsiders will be looking for another win against Jaguars and end this tournament on high note.
Blues decimate Jaguars in crunch match: After just one loss Blues were kind off in a crunch situation as they end up in a must win game against jaguars to secure a berth in the playoffs. Winning the toss Blues elected to bowl which turned out to be a good decision as they ripped off Jaguars total batting line up. Ram was the only batsman who could hold on to his wicket scoring most crucial 30 runs for his team. He couldn’t hold that long as he tried for another ambitious shot and was count at long on. Jaguars ended up with 58 runs on the board. Kranthi G had his best day claiming 4 wickets in just 3.3 overs. In reply Blues captain Bhagwant and Agastya sealed the game scoring 34 and 24 runs and were able to chase down the total in just 5.4 overs. Blues ensure a place in the post round matches and Jaguars have one last match against Outsiders which they would like to end up on the winning side.
Warrior XI comfortably chased Googlies: Warriors XI won the toss and put Googlies in. Googlies openers gave a good start. Bhaumik and Archit scoring 55 and 24 runs followed by Dinesh who scored 26 runs. At the end Googlies were able to score 140 runs in 19.4 overs for 10 wickets. Pravin took 3 wickets while Balaji, Mandar and Anjikumar shared 2 wickets each. In reply Liberton, Partha and Anjikumar sealed the victory for Warrior XI scoring 56, 31 and 18 runs each. Bhaumik tried his best taking 3 wickets but it was just that they couldn’t restrict Liberton from scoring 56 runs. It was an awesome performance by Warrior XI team who will be facing 22 balls. The winner of that match will be in the playoffs. Kotesh’s innings sealed a spot for Strikers: To start with Strikers were short of players and some key players were also not available. This was a must win game for Strikers as a loss here means their tournament is all but over. On the other hand, Royals which already qualified to the next round might think to lead the playoffs rankings. Toss was crucial as Strikers would like to bat first. Royals won the toss and put Strikers in. Anand and Ravi K got good starts scoring 20 and 32 respectively but they couldn’t convert to a big score. Two quick wickets fell and then came in Kotesh. He came in with just one intention to annihilate Royals. What an innings he played, scoring 7 6s and 8 4s and a total of 83 in just 38 balls pushed the Strikers team score to 171. Sushil was the most economical bowler and also took 2 wickets. Royals chasing a big (171 use to be a huge score, now it’s just a big scoreJ) score Royals batsman got start but no one could play a match winnings innings. Asim scored 25, Roneil scored 19. Sushil at the end gave some boost to the score as he got a quick 30 in 19 balls ending at a total of 145. Anand T was the pick of the bowlers who took 3 wickets. With this win Strikers seal their position in play offs but as a wild card entry.
Southside knocks out Chillers: I believe its 2nd match in row where Southside who chased in 12 overs. Winning the toss Chillers decided to bat but couldn’t get to a good start as Lakshmi and Ragu had to leave early falling preys to Amit and Sudhir. It was 2 run outs which hurt Chillers bad as both batsmen were in form batsmen. Murali played a captain’s innings to put his team in a decent position with help from Malar and Aneez. Southside bowling unit decided to share 1 wicket each among them to avoid any bias ;) restricting Chillers to 101 runs. In return it was Sai, Bharath and Amit who finished the game in just 12 overs hitting for 8 6’s and 10 4’s. Bharath got his 3rd straight man of the match. With this win, Southside confirmed their berth in playoffs.
Raiders’ qualify to Playoffs: Batsmen and Bowlers put Raiders in top position throughout this season. Batting first Raiders got off with blasting start from Ravi and Indra scoring 23 runs in just 2.4 overs. But that did not last much longer after losing Ravi and Faisal in quick intervals. Raiders’ middle order played anchoring innings supporting Indra who scored 61 runs in just 41 balls. Abhishek and Phani scored 12 and 23 runs each until Raiders Fire Cracker Vijay (aka Puppy) blasted again scoring 27 runs in just 14 balls. At the end Raiders was able to score 167 runs in 20 overs for 9 wickets. Girish from Invaders took 3 wickets with good economy. In reply Raiders bowling unit simply tore Invaders batting unit apart. It was only Santosh and Aravind who scored 25 and 13 runs to score a decent total of 78 runs for 10 wickets in 19.5 overs. Nazy, Faisal, Abhishek took 2 wickets each leaving Ravi with no wickets. In support Phani and Iliyas gave good support in contending the score from other end. This secures Raiders a position in playoffs.
