| DDCC VS Boulder Gunners, Series 2021 CTCL T20-Division1 Final Gunners won the toss and elected to Bat first. Gunners commenced with Manohar Karthikeyan and Sudarshan Sivaraman as their openers. They were able to judge the ball really well and started off with great, sensible batting. However, Gunners managed to lose 3 wickets early in the game, setting them back unusually. They came back strong with a great 4th wicket partnership between Gandhar Vaidya and Sumeet Khule scoring 43 runs in a partnership. Sumeet led the team with 50 runs of 40 balls (1 four, 3 sixes). Rohit Saini played a great knock towards the end scoring 23 runs in 34 balls (1 four). This helped the Gunners reach a defendable target of 106/7 in 20 overs. DDCC bowling was led by Umesh Shinde (4-0-20-2) and Swaroop Patlolla (4-0-15-2) by knocking out 3 of the starting batsmen within the first 3 overs. They maintained great line and length and forced the batsmen to play risky shots which ended up in them losing wickets. Rest of the bowlers also performed very well and were very economical and tactical in their bowling. Second innings, DDCC batting, Abhijit and Swaroop were openers. They got good runs, with Swaroop hitting a boundary, in the first few overs then succumbed a wicket to wide yorker. However, this wicket paved the way for Varun to show his impressive batting skills. He played a great match with 69 runs of 64 balls (8 fours, 1 six) with Abhijit playing cautiously and not giving the bowlers a chance to triumph, 22 runs of 39 balls (1 four). They were the backbone of the team leading DDCC to victory. Gunners bowling lineup tried everything they could from pace variations to bringing in a 6th bowler. Rahul Ahire and Srivathsan provided hope for the team with 1 wicket each, However it was not enough to succeed. In the end, DDCC won with 8 wickets in hand and defeated the table topper, Boulder Gunners, in the CTCL Division 1 finals on October 9th 2021. Varun Konka was awarded Man of the Match for his incredible performance of 69 (64) in an intense fight for the CTCL trophy. | |
