In order to effectively achieve this, we wanted a solid board members from various disciplines - College officials, Social Activists, Business men etc - We started with 10 board members - including all captains(at that time) , a professor from Univeristy of Oshkosh, a business man, official from parks department, expert on grounds..

These board members elect office bearers in every year board meeting.  Office bearers are president, Vice president etc..

You could check all board members and office bearers here :

If anyone is interested being a board member or an office bearer, it is just a click away here for being considered:  http://greenbaycricket.org/volunteer-with-us.html .. Goal is just to have diversified set of people in the board.. We are open to even rotate every year if lot of people are interested. Infact there are lot of open unfilled slots..

What did this organization achieved so far ?

Below are few highlights but not limited to...

  1. Achievement of Permanent cricket field(To be ready next year) - Check this article (http://www.cricclubs.com/viewArticle.do?articleId=10&clubId=5)
  2. Great relationship with government officials including Mayor to work towards promotion of cricket activities..
  3. Official Non Profit Status - To work towards sponsorship and reduce cost of ground fees
  4. Kids yearly cricket camps - applauded by community and Deepak (panthers) is leading the effort for this year.
  5. Cricket promotion activities in schools and public events.. (participated in two events last year).

GBCL

It is an adult cricket tournament - one of the activity conducted by GBCA. It has a complete different set of committee led by GBCA league director..
  1. Umpiring Panel - led by Afsal & Aravind - Responsible for identifying, allocation of umpires and ensure code of conduct and fair play
  2. Logistics & Finance - led by Shajahan - Responsible for making sure lawn mower gets paid, ground fees are paid, logistics are purchased, financial statements are prepare for tax filing end of the year - overall everything in relates to finance.
  3. Game coordinators - To be the point of contact for teams for any issues on field, reschedules etc (New this year and shaping up)
  4. Government Relations & Sponsorship - led by Shahul Azad
This team is completely different from board of directors in GBCA - Their goals are completely different - although some of names might overlap - but that is just due to lack of volunteers.

Why the hell it has to be this complicated ?
Community is growing  - Number of teams getting increased - Expectations are raising - Tolerance levels on mistakes by organizers are getting low  - so this is the better way so far identified to avoid any one person getting burned out.. Yes there will be chaos - but that's until things get settled..

Why does GBCL have to be so pushy on rules?
Simple answer is that's what experience taught us.. Where we are is just where everyone took us.. not what we wanted..

Current Issues :
  1. Permanent Field is yet to come and temporary field has a known issue with water puddles.. Parks department is working with us in whatever way they can..
  2. Pending Fund raising activities for permanent field ?(lack of volunteers)

Goals this year:
  1. Conduct minimum of 3 kids/youth cricket camps.
  2. Introduce Cricket sport to at least 2 local schools in the area.
  3. Participate in at least 2 public events promoting Cricket.
  4. Conduct a minimum of 2 competitive Cricket Adult tournaments.
  5. Raise required fund for Ashwaubenon Cricket ground.
  6. Improve financial transparency by publishing all financial activities in a website.
With everything said, everyone is open to take-up and do anything that is listed here.. In long term, we are looking to see this expanded to different chapters from appleton and other near by areas..

Should you have any question/concerns, please feel free to post here..

Guys,

There have been few questions around GBCA and GBCL and hopefully everyone get to talk here to avoid email clutters and have a open discussion..

GBCA

GBCA is a non-profit legal entity started as a platform for representation of our cricket community to wherever it is is required - be it working towards a better cricket field - promoting cricket in schools - conducting kid's events - conducting adult tournaments - anything to promote cricket awareness and represent as a group..

In order to effectively achieve this, we wanted a solid board members from various disciplines - College officials, Social Activists, Business men etc - We started with 10 board members - including all captains(at that time) , a professor from Univeristy of Oshkosh, a business man, official from parks department, expert on grounds..
