Born to Play, Forced to Work

The MPL has seen some wonderful players over the years. Its heart whelming to see folks play with passion, forget their mundane chores and contribute in whatever way they can. It comes with sacrifice of time and energy, but let's accept we love this game.

This article is dedicated to someone who "Prasoonifies" cricket. This guy thinks of his batting and bowling when he does not get sleep at night. He plays across formats in MidWest with elan and never gets tired. He made his wife get his cricket kit as a separate check-in luggage and did not want anything else from India. He comes up with weird ideas of capcaincy, I smile at that idea and let him do whatever he feels like.

A crazy batting average of 32 , strike rate of 200, bowling average of 20 is a reason for opponents to plan for this beast, and why not ? His guidance and temperament has helped us as a playing unit to enjoy the game even more.

Today was a unique situation. We had our Quater Final match against our friends- Stallions who have the best bowling line up in MPL 2016. For some key Unicorn players though, there was a major deployment and were unavailable for the match. Prasoon too was part of this, somehow managed the deployment with help of friends, played the match, won the Man of the Match award and humbly went back to office to complete the professional need. That is special and speaks volumes of the passion, patience and dedication he possesses. With the tournament drawing to an end, I hope as a team we live upto his expectations.

20 years down the lane, I'm pretty sure you'll continue to play this wonderful game with your kid for whatever team you are associated with :-)

Jannu Venkatesh:  Congratulations to team BRONCOS for winning MPL 2016........ It has been an amazing journey through out this tournament..... This squad has lot of experienced guys who supported and guided us through out the tournament. Started the tournament with wins and in the middle of the tournament we lost the momentum and on top of that we lost our key player and captain Raviteja Pujari and we were loosing the matches.... At 1 stage we were almost out of the tournament and we were in a must win situation against unicorns and thats were we executed the plans and won that game comfortably..... from there on the momentum started and every game we got better n better..... Quarters, semis and finals we were unstoppable. Winning against blue whales in the playoffs gave us lot of confidence, Definitely one of the toughest side to win in the tournament. No one was consistent through out the tournament, but when playoffs started everyone gave their best when it was required and performed well in the playoffs. "Atche dasari" what a find for Broncos...... Highest wicket taker in the tournament and man of the match in the finals...Should say special to kishore our captain our best alrounder and hard hitting batsman who made us winners of MPL 2016... Definitely one of the toughest job is to lead the team and he did a great job in this role. Should say HATSOFF to all the seniors who has lot of patience and they were always helping us to do well in the tournament, that really helped us to perform well in the tournament. Finally want to thank few players who have performed very well in the tournament for our team.... Firstly Atche Dasari, Kishore, Venkat padala, Arviind Bayankara, Gopinath, praneeth and Sudheer and finally our veteran bowler Praveen manuel who gave his best and had great tournament this year. It was completely a team effort for us to win MPL 2016 this year. We on behalf of BRONCOS want to thank organisers for organising a wonderful tournament like this..... See u guys again in MPL 2017..........
Prasoon Sharma:  Thanks for the kind words Vivek. I am blessed to have such lovely friends which I made because of cricket Cricket unites us together. Hope we go all the way.
